From pound puppies to purebreds Patch spotlights dogs who enjoy what Shoreline/Lake Forest Park has to offer. For some dogs, like this week’s pet Hefner, all they need is a loving home.
The 2 year old purebred black Poodle is only 7 pounds. He is a great lap dog and craves attention. Hefner is housebroken and smart. Being a Poodle he does not shed and is a non-allergetic dog – perfect for a home where someone may be sensitive to dog dander.
Hefner was surrendered by his owner, who lost their home in Eastern Washington.

He gets along great with people, including gentle kids, and other dogs….especially the girl dogs. He has not been around cats before.
Once at Ginger’s Hefner was groomed, including an ear cleaning. Under a vet’s care he was neutered, dewormed, microchipped and had his shots, including rabies, updated. Now he is ready to go to their forever home. His adoption fee is $595 to cover his vet care, transportation and care.

Ginger, a Shoreline resident and owner of Greenwood’s Rickshaw Restaurant, has rescued more than 3,500 dogs since January 2006.
Even people who cannot care for a rescue dog can help dogs, like Rocky, by donating to Ginger Luke's Death Row Dog Rescue, a 501 C 3 organization, to help pay the vet bills and save these dogs who have been through so much. Foster homes and donations of leashes, collars and crates are also needed.
