Police Arrest 2 At Shoreline Gas Station In Connection To Car Prowls

SHORELINE, WA - Police have made two arrests related to the recent rash of car break-ins at the Harbor Square complex in downtown Edmonds.

The break-ins have been happening since October. The suspects were taking bags from cars, and would sometimes use credit cards they stole at the Shoreline Fred Meyer. On Monday morning, a bystander called police to report a vehicle break-in in progress. The caller was able to tell police that the suspect drove away in a gray BMW sedan, police said.

Police anticipated the suspects might head to Fred Meyer, so they went to the area to look for the BMW. A Woodway Police officer spotted the car at a gas station near the intersection of Aurora Avenue North and North 175th Street.

Officers pulled the vehicle over, and arrested the driver, a 28-year-old from Kent, on suspicion of theft and unlawful possession of a firearm. Police also arrested a 24-year-old from Tacoma on suspicion of theft. A third passenger was not immediately arrested or charged, police said.
