Power Outage Caused by Falling Tree

Shorewood and Einstein let out early

A power outage caused by a tree falling on a power line on Dayton Ave. North resulted in 3,100 customers losing power in Shoreline and the early dismissal of Shorewood High School and Einstein Middle School Wednesday morning. 

About 140 residences are still without power but it should be restored by 6 p.m. according to Seattle City Light. 

Dayton Avenue North was closed between 170th and 180th streets while Seattle crews remove the live wire from the roadway. It is now open.

Shorewood High School was dismissed at 11:55 a.m. and Einstein was dismissed at 12:25 p.m. Middle school athletics and field trips were cancelled. High school athletic practices are optional. Evening activities at both schools are cancelled.
