Shorecrest Celebrating 50th anniversary with Open House, Commemorative Book

Celebration set for Sept. 10

Shorecrest High School will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a community open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Shorecrest opened its doors to students for the first time Sept. 6, 1961.

The event will feature a program highlighting performance groups and honored guests, a Boosters barbecue, ceremonial groundbreaking for the new Shorecrest building, birthday cake and other fun activities.

Alumni are invited to tour the building prior to its replacement, browse old editions of the Highland Piper newspaper and Loch yearbook and reminisce.

As the school looks forward to a new school in 2013, staff wanted to make sure the old building would never be forgotten.
