Shorecrest Girls Soccer Team Wins Blaine Tournament

The Shorecrest girls soccer team beat Mark Morris 2-1, in a shootout to earn top honors at the 12-team Blaine High School Soccer Tournament.

This is the third year in the last four that the team has attended, winning the team title in each of their three appearances.

This year the Scots beat Blaine 3-0, Lynden 1-0 and Squalicum 1-0 to win its division in Pool Play.

In the semifinals, the Scots beat Bellingham 2-0 to set up the championship match with Mark Morris of Longview, Washington.

The team includes Sarah Belland, Nicole Sharratt, Ashley Beeson, Alex Murphy, Frida Swenson, Corrina Smith, Amelia Fhlor, Jessica Gratrix, Ashley Gaston, Erin Anderson, Meghan Wicken, Hailey Wicken, Maya Garber-Yonts, Lulu Wissmar, Kate Hildahl, Sophia Fhlor and Savannah Tidwell. The head coach is Mindy Dalziel and the assistant coach is Christine Avakian.
