A longtime Lottery player from Shoreline won $230,000 from a Hit 5 drawing on November 12. The winning ticket was purchased earlier that day from a Seattle Fred Meyer (18325 Aurora Ave N). The man said, “I always knew I would win. If you don’t play, you can’t win.”

The winner and his family were most excited about the new car they were able to buy. He told Lottery officials at the Everett regional office, “I haven’t owned a new car since ‘91. I already bought a Toyota RAV-4 from a local dealership.” He added, “We will also be able to make some timely home improvements just in time for the holidays. I will be re-doing all of the windows in my house – double pain windows, baby!”

The winner said he has been playing Washington’s Lottery for about 6 years using the same numbers. “They’re just random numbers that I feel are right,” said the winner.

When someone in Washington wins a Hit 5 jackpot, others in the state benefit, too. The Fred Meyer that sold the winning ticket will receive a $2,300 selling bonus.

Additionally, proceeds from Washington’s Lottery benefit the Washington Opportunity Pathways Account, providing grants to college students statewide. To learn more about Washington’s Lottery, its beneficiaries and to review all up-to-date winning numbers, please visit www.walottery.com.
