Shoreline School On Lockout Due To Police Activity

BREAKING: The lockout will prevent anyone from entering the elementary school until the situation is over.

SHORELINE, WA - Echo Lake Elementary School was briefly placed on lockout Monday afternoon due to police activity near the school. A lockout differs from a lockdown because it is meant to keep the perimeter of the school secure until a given situation is over. During a lockout, school activities inside the building typically carry on as normal.

The lockout lasted about 30 minutes and ended around 1 p.m.

King County Sheriff Sgt. Cindi West said that the lockout was spurred by a burglary at an apartment building along the 20100 block of Sunnyside Drive. The suspect fled the scene and police were still searching for him as of 12:35 p.m.
