Shoreline Special Election: Deadline To Register Approaching

SHORELINE, WA - The deadline to register or update your voting information in order to vote in the Feb. 14 special election is approaching quickly.

The deadline to register is Jan. 16, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Although King County offices will be closed that day, voters can still register to vote online. The county will begin sending out ballots to residents in the Shoreline School District on Jan. 25.

Shoreline voters will decide whether to allow the school district to bond for $250 million to renovate a number of schools to relieve overcrowding. Here's the full text of the question that will appear on ballots:

• "The Board of Directors of Shoreline School District No. 412 adopted Resolution No. 2016-19, concerning a proposition to enhance the learning environment and relieve overcrowding. This proposition would authorize the District to: rebuild Kellogg Middle School, Einstein Middle School and Parkwood Elementary School; build an Early Learning Center at the Children's Center Site that will house the District's mandatory Early Childhood Education program, as well as Shoreline Children's Center and Head Start programs; issue no more than $250,000,000 of general obligation bonds maturing within 20 years; and levy annual excess property taxes to repay the bonds, all as provided in Resolution No. 2016-19."
