A 43-year-old Seattle man was hit while he was tending to his broken down car.

SHORELINE, WA - If you have information about a hit-and-run crash that happened along I-5 early Sunday morning, contact Washington State Patrol. Detectives are investigating leads, according to the agency, after a 43-year-old was hit from behind by the hit-and-run driver.

The crash happened around 3 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5 near 175th Street in Shoreline. Joaquin Gauna, of Seattle, was standing behind his broken-down 1996 Nissan Sentra along the shoulder. A 2003 Honda Element traveling southbound hit Gauna and his car.

The Element kept driving down the highway for about 300 feet, according to state patrol, and then stopped. That's when the driver got out and fled from the scene. Gauna was taken to Harborview for treatment.
