Third Place Commons Hosts Storytelling Series

Our Commons Stories kicks off Monday, March 21

The City of Lake Forest Park celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2011, and Friends of Third Place Commons is pleased to host special storytelling events throughout the year.  Our Commons Stories series kicks off on Monday, March 21 with the first of four interactive experiences with the Threshold Ensemble.  http://www.thresholdensemble.org.

We know that everyone has a story to tell about where they live, and we are inviting our friends and neighbors to share a story or two.  Through the spontaneity of playback theater, participants will get to see their stories “played back” to them by Ensemble actors on the stage.  The result is a dramatic and entertaining event that can lead to a new understanding of shared experiences and an exploration of our common humanity.  Threshold Ensemble will return in June, and then in the fall for more improvisational storytelling events.  Please watch Patch for details.

On April 2, we are honored to welcome noted storyteller Gene Tagaban, a Tlingit Raven Dancer.  With drums, dance, and myth, Gene will share a native creation story.  Gene is in high demand to perform across the nation, and we are fortunate to have him join us in the Commons for this special event for all ages.   http://www.genetagaban.com/

Commons Stories is made possible in part by a grant from Humanities Washington, a statewide organization dedicated to providing and supporting cultural education programs in local communities.  Friends of Third Place Commons is grateful to Humanities Washington for their commitment to these events.

Please join us on Monday, March 21, at 7 pm for What is Your Story? with Threshold Ensemble.  And don’t forget to save Saturday, April 2 for Raven Dreaming with Gene Tagaban, on stage at 1 pm.  Both take place in Third Place Commons, 17171 Bothell Way NE.  For more information, call 206-366-3302, or visit www.thirdplacecommons.org.  All events in the Commons are free of charge and open to the public.
