Crews are paving Trent, then realigning Pines to the east, with the project expected to wrap up by next spring and cut several hours of daily wait time.

Canadian man arrested for firing gun through floor of rented studio in Spokane Valley (kxly920.com) β A woman living above an East Sprague Avenue studio in Spokane Valley narrowly avoided injury after a neighbor allegedly fired a gun through his ceiling and her floor early Friday morning. Deputies later arrested the Canadian renter, who reportedly admitted illegally buying a firearm and was booked into Spokane County Jail on multiple charges after suspected drugs were also found.

WA wildfire home damage totals at least $188M, Ferguson says (bigcountrynewsconnection.com) β Spokane County, including Spokane Valley, faces at least $188 million in wildfire-related home damage as Gov. Bob Ferguson seeks a major federal disaster declaration. The request could bring millions in grants, loans, and cleanup support to affected residents and local governments, while state leaders also propose building-code flexibility, tax rebates, and fee waivers to speed rebuilding after August's devastating fires.

Investigator: Spokane man sent cocaine all over world through mail (spokesman.com) β Federal investigators say a Spokane man used Spokane and Spokane Valley mailing addresses to ship cocaine ordered through dark web accounts linked to his email. After an undercover purchase allegedly confirmed the scheme, he was arrested, faces serious federal drug and mail charges, and remains in custody pending a detention hearing in Spokane.
