Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:

  1. On Monday, two people were injured in an explosion at a tent inside a Spokane homeless camp. According to Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer, it's believed that the man and woman living at the camp were using a propane tank to heat their tent, and the explosion was caused by an attempt to light a cigarette inside. There is no update on the condition of the two individuals at this time. (KREM.com)
  2. It's pothole season once again in Spokane, due in large part due to the fluctuating winter weather. The north and south sides of the city have trucks tasked specifically for pothole repairs; as of Jan. 13, the city has filled 157 potholes this season. City officials are reminding residents that they can submit claims for damages within 24 hours of an incident. (KHQ Right Now)
  3. The Spokane Police Department and K9 units responded to a burglary and stabbing on West Cora Avenue on Tuesday night. The suspects reportedly stole a television, stabbed a female victim, and fled the scene of the crime; the victim was transported for care and is currently in stable condition.
