2. You asked, we got answers: Why did the EPA leave certain items behind at Spokane Complex Fire-impacted properties? (krem.com) — If your Spokane property was hit by the Spokane Complex Fire, you may still see black trash bags marked with white X's on your lot. The EPA says those contain non-hazardous debris that homeowners or their contractors must dispose of, while any valuables found are left on-site and owners are contacted to reclaim them.

Spokane landlords say new ordinance to protect wildfire-impacted renters leaves them high and dry (krem.com) — Spokane renters affected financially by recent wildfires now have temporary protection from eviction for unpaid rent under a new city ordinance, while landlords warn it could strain their finances. The rule requires renters to document hardship, work on repayment plans, and lasts up to a year after an emergency declaration, with protections for those hit by August's fires extending through August 2027.
4. Why the Spokane wildfires became so catastrophic (envnewsbits.info) — Spokane residents are learning why this summer's Spokane Complex Fire spread so quickly through neighborhoods, with drought, heavy vegetation, and strong winds all combining to fuel the disaster. Fire scientists outline how the wildland-urban interface around Spokane heightens risk, and share practical steps communities and individual homeowners can take to harden homes, manage fuels, and better prepare for future fires.
5. Sept. 22 Perinatal Mental Health Basics (srhd.org) — Health and birth workers in Spokane can attend a free Sept. 22 Perinatal Mental Health Basics training at the Spokane Regional Health District.
