Here are the top stories in Spokane today:

  1. The COVID-19 pandemic is retreating from local schools. The sharpest drops occurred in several of the area's largest districts. Central Valley, which reported 151 positive tests in the two-week period ending Oct. 8, was down to 88 on Friday. However, the area's largest district, Spokane Public Schools, reported an increase. According to the one-week snapshot issued Friday, it has 115 positive cases – up from 73 last week. But Spokane schools reported a slight decrease from last week in quarantined students and staff, from 607 to 584. (The Spokesman Review)
  2. A drive-thru COVID testing site is open at Spokane Falls Community College. Testing services are provided by Discovery Health MD and supported by Spokane Regional Health District and the Washington State Department of Health. The testing site is opening at 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Oct. 18 and is located at 3410 W. Whistalks Way. (KXLY Spokane)
  3. If you want to see some of the Spokane's haunted locations, Spokane Public Library has created a walking tour to do just that! The library said some of the sites on the tour are well-known legends. Others are either speculation based on old newspaper articles or based on stories from Chet Caskey's books. (KXLY Spokane)
