Here are the top three stories in Spokane today:
- The Spokane Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1700 East Queen Avenue on Saturday. According to reports, heavy smoke and fire were being emitted from a two-car detached garage at the residence. A woman was rescued from the garage and taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center, from which she was quickly released. (KXLY Spokane)
- The Spokane Symphony opened its Sunday Masterworks 6 performance with the Ukraine national anthem to show support for the European country. The performance was at the Fox Theater and was directed by James Lowe. The director views the anthem as their response to violence: "to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than before." (KXLY Spokane)
- Advocates for Spokane's homeless population protested Saturday for more homeless shelters. Advocates want to see the city do more for the homeless after receiving data from the point and time count. Cards with the names of Spokane residents who died while homeless were attached to viaduct fencing by the protestors. (KREM.com)
