Here are the top stories today in Spokane:

  1. Right now, a Spokane father is in jail tonight after killing a man he said sold his underage daughter into a sex trafficking organization in Seattle. 60-year-old John Eisenman is facing first-degree murder charges and a one-million-dollar bond. The community nationwide and locally even raising thousands for his bond and legal fees. Brenda Kross, Eisenman's fiancée., said she's overwhelmed by the support. (KHQ Right Now)
  2. A Spokane federal judge on Thursday denied the request of more than two dozen city firefighters who were seeking an order restoring them to their jobs. "The public interest the city has put forth to prevent death certainly outweighs the public interest in what is alleged to be civil rights violations," said U.S. District Court Judge Thomas O. Rice. The decision not to grant the temporary order sought by the firefighters does not end the case. No future hearing date has been set, but the parties have been given a Dec. 8 deadline to file additional briefings for Rice to consider. (The Spokesman Review)
  3. Habitat for Humanity took over six homes in the West Central neighborhood with the plan of rehabilitating them. Two are now complete and ready to house new families. (KXLY Spokane)
  4. Fire crews extinguished a fire that damaged a commercial structure in Spokane Valley on Thursday night. (KREM.com)
  5. In Spokane, the number of customers without power was 121 as of 8 p.m Thursday. By Friday morning, it had been restored. Avista says a car crash caused the Spokane area outage. (KXLY Spokane)
