Here are the top three stories in Spokane today:

  1. 33 Spokane Fire Department firefighters responded to an apartment fire on Sunday morning. The crews extinguished the blaze within 20 minutes of arriving at the scene. Though there were no injuries from the fire, 16 tenants and four dogs were displaced; the American Red Cross is assisting the impacted residents. (KXLY Spokane)
  2. Spokane Valley's Barker Road widening project will get a $3 million assist, thanks to Senator Murray's contributions in a $1.5 trillion spending bill. The newly-acquired funds will be used to cover some of the project costs. The entire project is estimated to cost $50 million, with the city and state providing the majority of the money. (The Spokesman-Review)
  3. Pedal kart rentals will be available at Numerica Skate Ribbon and SkyRide this spring. The karts can be rented for $11.95 per hour or $7.95 for 30 minutes. There are four single-seat karts and two double-seat karts available with helmets provided at no additional cost. (KXLY Spokane)
