Here are the top stories today in Spokane:
- In a press release Sunday, Spokane fire officials said they were called to a home near the intersection of East Wellesley Avenue and North Helena Street after the homeowner reported a fire in the wall of their home around 6:30 a.m. Five people were able to safely escape a house fire early Sunday morning in the Hillyard neighborhood. - Libraries in the city of Spokane will remain closed Sunday because of online threats. The Spokane Police Department confirmed an investigation has been launched, adding that threats of violence were made at "an unidentified library location." All branches were closed Saturday as police investigated. The library said the closures were out of an abundance of caution to keep staff and the public safe. (KXLY Spokane)
- The Spokane Fire Department has issued a warning for high winds today from 1 to 10 p.m. affecting the entire Palouse area. (KHQ Right Now)
- The Spokane branch of the Salvation Army announced they'll once again be hosting a free community Thanksgiving meal at their 222 E. Indiana Avenue location on Nov. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (KHQ Right Now)
- Sex-trafficking claims made by a Spokane father who killed his daughter's 20-year-old boyfriend have not been corroborated by Spokane police. (The Spokesman Review)
