Here are the top three stories in Spokane today:

  1. Spokane's annual Point-in-Time Count began yesterday to take a census of the homeless population, both sheltered and unsheltered. The data will be used to provide insight into how new programs should be designed so that everyone can gain access to essential resources. (KXLY Spokane)
  2. Washington's Governor Jay Inslee has appointed Spokane resident Paul Trautman as the new chair of the state's Affordable Housing Advisory Board. Trautman has been the senior housing developer with nonprofit Community Frameworks in Spokane. According to Trautman, he is focused on expanding affordable and healthy housing for all of Washington's residents. (The Spokesman Review)
  3. The Spokane County Board of Commissioners has appointed three new members to the Spokane health board. The new members are Alycia Policani, Charlie Durañona, and Chris Patterson. Another member will be chosen by the American Indian Health Commission but that member has not been named yet. (Pacific Northwest Inlander)
