Here are the top stories in Spokane today:

  1. A Spokane Valley neighborhood saw 60-foot tall flames as a fire ripped through a detached log cabin. The fire started on Wednesday morning and damaged the cabin that was located in the backyard of a home. There is some damage to the vinyl on the home and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated. (FOX 28 Spokane)
  2. Rent in Spokane appears to be going down, as Spokane metro area rents dropped 1.8% in Sept. compared with Aug. This drop comes after a nine-month streak of monthly rate increases, where median rents for Sept. were $991 for a one-bedroom apartment and $1,300 for a two-bedroom unit. The last time Spokane's rent dropped was in Nov. 2020. (KHQ Right Now)
  3. Spokane Native Vanessa R. Waldref will be sworn in as United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington today. (Dailyfly)
