Here are the top three stories in Spokane today:
- A Spokane man was forced to spend 12 hours in Shari's Restaurant for coming in last place in his fantasy football league. Brad Lammers took the punishment, which is part of a long-standing tradition among Lammers's college friend group, by sitting in a booth at the North Spokane Shari's location on Division Street. However, because he could shave one hour off his sentence by eating waffles, he was able to cut his time in half by 11:00 a.m., after he ordered his 5th and 6th waffles. (KREM)
- Washington state's Office of Financial Management has projected massive growth throughout Spokane County by 2040 — here's what that growth could look like. By that target date, it's projected that Spokane County's population will exceed 600,000 people, which is a gain of about 90,000 people in the next 18 years. All across Spokane, there have been developments to help prepare for this growth, including the Riverfront Park renovations, construction at the sports facility The Podium, and Amazon expansions including the addition of Amazon air at the Spokane International Airport. - The Inlander Restaurant Week menus were released on Monday. The annual event, which kicks off on Feb. 24, allows guests to enjoy three-course meals at a variety of restaurants across the Inland Northwest. The price points for meals are set at $22, $33, or $44. (KXLY)
