Here are the top stories in Spokane today:

  1. A firefighter with the Spokane Valley Fire Department was injured trying to save a home from burning on Wednesday night. The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to the fire around 10 p.m. near E Crestwood Lane and N Ryley Lane in Otis Orchards. Crews tried to knock down the flames with a hose line but ran out of water. (KXLY Spokane)
  2. Recent data from the health district shows the COVID-19 case rate and weekly hospitalizations continue to decline in Spokane County. New cases of the virus have declined from 331 per 100,000 residents in the previous two weeks to 299 cases per 100,000 residents in the past two weeks. There are also fewer people hospitalized with the virus in Spokane County than in late November. (The Spokesman Review)
