1. Funding Available for Tourism and Culture Investment Grants (spokanecity.org) — Spokane organizations now have a chance to apply for Tourism and Cultural Investment (TACI) grants of up to $10,000 to boost the city's arts and visitor appeal. Funded by hotel lodging taxes, the program supports projects that strengthen Spokane's cultural identity and tourism economy, with applications due Oct. 15 and questions accepted through Sept. 30.
   

2. Four men allegedly rob North Spokane apartment, attack residents with Nerf gun (krem.com) — Two men accused in a July home-invasion robbery at a North Spokane apartment are now headed to court, with one sentencing and one arraignment set this week. Court documents describe how four suspects allegedly forced their way into a Maxwell Avenue unit, assaulted residents, and even used a Nerf gun during the attack, after a personal dispute escalated.
   

3. 'Operation Stampede' results in 100 arrests by Spokane authorities, U.S. Marshals Service (krem.com) — Spokane-area law enforcement and the U.S. Marshals Service have wrapped up a six‑month "Operation Stampede" that led to 100 arrests and dozens of seized firearms in Spokane County and Spokane Valley. Officials say the effort targeted violent fugitives, gang activity, and firearm and narcotics crimes, and they credit the partnership with making Spokane streets noticeably safer.
   

4. Supreme Court upholds mail-in voting, clearing path for Spokane County midterm elections (kxly920.com) — Spokane County voters can expect mail-in ballots and election timelines to proceed as usual after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld mail-in voting in a 7-2 decision. Local election officials say more than 300,000 ballots will start going out Oct. 14, and residents, including those displaced by recent fires, are urged to confirm or update their mailing addresses before key October and November deadlines.
   

5. Exclusive: Spokane Police Chief explains decision to quickly release video of Evergreen shooting (krem.com) — Spokane's police chief is explaining why investigators released video of the Evergreen Middle School shooting just three days after the incident, calling it a step toward greater transparency. The Spokane Independent Investigative Response team continues probing the case, which involved a school resource officer fatally shooting a 20-year-old man with a replica firearm after a 911 call that investigators believe he made about himself.
