- Pig Out in the Park will be returning on Labor Day weekend, after being canceled the past two years due to COVID-19. - The tenth annual Spokane Homeless Connect meeting has been postponed to March due to "skyrocketing COVID cases." The Spokane Homeless Connect is a subcommittee of the Spokane Homeless Coalition which is an organization that serves those experiencing homelessness in Spokane County. (KREM.com)
- Spokane Public Schools (SPS) were closed on Tuesday due to COVID-related staffing shortages. Officials are expecting the Omicron surge to peak as soon as this week and are adjusting the school calendar "to provide additional time for staff to complete quarantines required by the Department of Health." As of Friday, 1,158 staff and students were in quarantine due to a possible COVID-19 case, according to SPS. (KREM.com)
