Plane Crash In Spokane: Pilot Walks Away With Minor Injuries

Spokane police reported the crash just before 2 p.m. Friday in the Hillyard neighborhood.

SPOKANE, WA - A small plane crashed in Spokane Friday afternoon, according to police. The plane crashed northeast of the downtown area in a wide open grassy area near the intersection of North Ferrall Street and East Wellesley Avenue. The location is adjacent to the Esmerelda Golf Course

According to a photo released by Spokane police, the plane was not on fire. Spokane's KHQ reported that the pilot was the only person on board the plane, and that they appeared to be OK.

“I looked up and I could here sputtering, missing, obviously not a steady sound so I knew it was missing cylinders or something,” said Spokane Officer Scott Hice told KHQ. “And then the engine cut out totally. You could here it ceased up on him and he starts to lose some serious altitude.”
