Here are the top stories in Spokane today:

  1. It's a tale as old as time: semi-trucks getting stuck in the Spokane area. Now, the city has installed a device under one problem bridge aimed at remedying the headache for drivers and law enforcement alike. Warning chimes made of plastic have been installed on East Sprague Avenue leading to the Division Street railroad bridge, as part of a project done this summer and fall, City of Spokane spokesperson Marlene Feist said. 2. If you have family members or neighbors who breathe in-home medical oxygen, they can be at risk if a fire starts around them. These "oxygen fires" are often started when someone smokes and uses oxygen at the same time. The Spokane Valley Fire Department wants to raise awareness about these types of deadly fires. Thanks to a FEMA grant, Spokane Valley firefighters are getting about 100 thermal fuses, also called fire breaks, to help stop these fires sooner. (KXLY Spokane)
  3. The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD) announced that they will be providing households with access to free, rapid COVID-19 antigen test kits through the Say Yes! COVID Test At-Home Testing Challenge. (KREM.com)
  4. Police are investigating a shooting that left one juvenile with injuries and one dog deceased in north Spokane. (KHQ Right Now)
