Here are the top stories in Spokane today:

  1. If you are having trouble making your monthly rent the City of Spokane might be able to help if you have also been impacted by COVID-19. In order to receive rental assistance, you do need to show proof that you live in the City of Spokane. You also have to show your household has lost jobs or wages due to the COVID-19 pandemic, your household income is below Spokane's average and that your current housing is at risk by showing either unpaid rental fees or anticipation of inability to pay future rent.   2. On Nov. 9, Spokane Valley City Council approved a $108 million budget for 2022, an increase over 2021's $98 million budget. The city isn't raising property taxes. The city expects revenues of $96 million. An additional $12 million in grants brings the overall budget to $108 million. For comparison, Spokane's 2022 budget will be over $1 billion.   3. A Spokane woman has been reported missing after never showing up at her daughter's apartment over the weekend. 68-year-old Lynnell McFarland is reported to have left Ellensburg last Thursday, headed back to her Spokane residence. Lynnell's daughter reported her missing on Friday after she never showed up. Lynnell's daughter is concerned for her mental health and driving capabilities as she gets lost and takes medication that can cause impairment. (KHQ Right Now)
