Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:
- A reward is being offered by U.S. Marshals for information that leads them to a wanted fugitive, accused of running a large-scale insurance fraud scam. William Oldham Mize was one of several people indicted on a conspiracy that involved faking car crashes and accidents in order to collect insurance money, and is awaiting trial in federal court. A $10,000 reward is being offered to those with information that leads to his capture. (KXLY Spokane)
- On Thursday, Spokane County reported the most COVID-19 cases of any day in the pandemic with 848 new cases. Until that point, the highest number of confirmed cases was 719, reported in Dec. 2020. Currently in Spokane County, roughly 63 percent of people 12 and older are vaccinated. (KXLY Spokane)
- The Harlem Globetrotters are bringing their new tour to Spokane in late Jan. The new tour, called The Spread Game Tour, includes full-court family fun, a dunk contest, new characters, and access to the players following the game. The tour will be stopping at Spokane Arena on Jan. 24. (Bulletin)

- Fans of Betty White have started the #BettyWhiteChallenge to pay tribute to the animal lover extraordinaire on Jan. 17 — what would have been her 100th birthday. The request of the challenge is for fans to donate $5 to an animal rescue organization in her name. (Facebook)
