Sex Trafficker Gets 20 Years + New Bus Route Postponed A Year

Here are the top stories in Spokane today:
- Seth Randles, 37, of Spokane, was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court to 20 years in prison for human trafficking charges. According to court records, FBI agent Ian Burns began an investigation in 2019 after a woman said she had been a victim for the past two years of sex trafficking by Randles. The woman told investigators that Randles used a two-story townhouse on the 400 block of Dalke Avenue in Spokane "as a base of operation where he would sexually traffic women," the agent wrote. - A new Spokane bus route envisioned as a continuous and quick loop through downtown has been delayed for at least a year. Commonly called the City Line, construction crews have been building ramps and concrete platforms that bump out from the curb throughout the route. But the special buses won't start running until July 2023, the Spokane Transit Authority announced Thursday. When completed, the new bus system will follow a 6-mile route between Browne's Addition and Spokane Community College, connecting to downtown and the University District, according to the Spokane Transit website. - The outdoor recreational fire restrictions that were implemented on June 4 are lifted as of Friday, Oct. 8. (Press Release Desk)
- Right now, a law firm, Clifford Law Offices out of Chicago is filing suit against Amtrak and BNSF on behalf of 11 victims following the derailment of the Amtrak Empire Builder. (FOX 28 Spokane)
- Spokane police has spent three weeks helping the Parking Enforcement Department responding to people's reports all over Spokane, and they have knocked out 700 reports of abandoned cars, which is almost half of what they had stacked up. (KREM.com)
