Here are the top three stories today in Spokane:
- Spokane County has notified the community of a new social media scam. A fake Facebook page posing at the Spokane County Interstate Fair is messaging community members asking for credit card information in exchange for tickets. Officials with the county are urging the community to report these messages to Facebook. (KHQ Right Now)
- Spokane's local Chef Chad White has been named a finalist in the prestigious James Beard award competition. Chef White is best known for his restaurants Zona Blanca, Old Iron Brewery, and recently closed High Tide Lobster Bar. Chef White is being recognized for his creative culinary inventions at the ceviche bar Zona Blanca. (KXLY Spokane)
- According to an officer with the Spokane Regional Health District, a new sub-variant of the COVID-19 omicron strain has been detected. The new sub-variant is reportedly more contagious and offers slightly different symptoms to those who are infected. Officials ask the community to be on the lookout for episodes of dizziness and fatigue that could be signs of sub-variant spread. (KREM.com)
