- According to Spokane Health Officials, syphilis is becoming more common and more of a concern, especially for newborns. The number of confirmed syphilis cases in the county increased from 26 in 2014 to more than 200 in 2018, according to the Spokane Regional Health District. The outbreak has flown under the radar in part due to the emphasis on COVID during the last 18 months, experts say. (Spokane Public Radio)
- A new video reveals how strongly some Spokane police officers are opposed to vaccine mandates. On Aug. 20, hundreds of protesters gathered outside the Spokane Regional Health District to oppose vaccine mandates, but body camera footage captured Spokane officers voicing their opposition to the mandates as well.
