🌱 Third Murder Suspect Arrested + Streetcar Merger Update

The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Spokane.

Hey, people of Spokane! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Spokane Daily.

First, today's weather:

Cloudy with a little rain. High: 52 Low: 41.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Spokane:

  1. The Spokane County Library District is providing resources for parents to raise a generation of readers. The library is raising awareness of its large variety of books available through digital platforms, physical branch shelves, and Book Butler service. Parents are being reminded that the district also provides curated book lists for Kindergarten students and STARS Training for pre-school-aged children. (Press Release Desk)
  2. The merger of two streetcar companies in Spokane allegedly hit some snags behind closed doors. The main issue was in determining rates with city officials wanting a 6-cent fare while the companies were considering rates as high as 8. As more information becomes public, the merger's future will be clearer. (The Spokesman Review)
  3. The Spokane Valley Police Department has arrested the third suspect in an Oct. 2021 shooting. Simon Ben, 22, was arrested Monday on charges related to the murder of Allyson Davis, 37, during a planned robbery. Ben has been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery 1st-degree and 1st-degree murder with a bond set at $1 million. (KXLY Spokane)
