The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Spokane.

Hey, people of Spokane! It's me again, Sean Peek, your host of the Spokane Daily.

First, today's weather:

Periods of snow, 1-3". High: 37 Low: 27.

Here are the top stories today in Spokane:

  1. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for areas north, south, and west of Spokane that may impact the start of school. The Spokane area is under a Winter Weather Advisory, and southeastern Washington also has a Wind Advisory. All in all, it's a very active couple of days for weather across the region. (KHQ Right Now)
  2. In Nov. 2021, Spokane police solved the 62-year-old cold-case murder of 9-year-old Candice "Candy" Elaine Rogers. The Spokane Police Department announced in Nov. that DNA confirmed John Reigh Hoff, who wasn't a suspect in the killing until that year, had abducted, raped, and strangled Rogers. One family member recalled her parents and siblings unknowingly living next to Rogers' murderer before he killed himself at his home. (Free: The Seattle TimesSubscription: The Spokesman Review)
  3. Ski operations around Spokane are heading into a busy winter season as cold and snow flurries continue to coat nearby mountaintops. The ski and snowboarding season was delayed after an unexpectedly snowless Nov., including Mount Spokane, which was set to open the first week of Dec. but had to postpone for two weeks because of lack of snow, said general manager Jim van Loben Sells.
