• Unpermitted, high-hazard dam near Sultan fined $20,000 for safety violations (einpresswire.com) — A privately owned, unpermitted dam in Sultan near 132nd Street SE and Sultan Basin Road has been fined $20,000 for unresolved safety problems that could endanger nearby homes, roads, and an RV park. State dam safety officials say heavy rains previously caused dangerous overtopping and erosion, and they're pressing for urgent repairs or decommissioning before this fall's storms.
