📰 News we're reading

• Western District of Washington (uscourts.gov) — Residents under federal supervision in Tukwila should know that local contract facilities are part of the Western District of Washington's drug-testing network, accessed through a nightly call‑in system. By phoning in with a code between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., individuals learn whether they must report the next day and at what time, alongside similar sites across the region.

• Toys R Us coming back to three Western WA locations (tri-cityherald.com) — Tukwila shoppers may remember Toys R Us' seasonal pop-up at Westfield Southcenter, and now the brand is returning to three nearby malls in Puyallup, Auburn and Vancouver this October. The revived, smaller-format stores will test holiday-season performance, with some locations adding event spaces, candy shops and cafés as the company cautiously rebuilds its brick-and-mortar presence.

• Seattle minimum wage will rise to over $22 an hour in 2027 (komonews.com) — Workers in Tukwila already earn one of Washington's highest minimum wages at $21.65 per hour, just ahead of Seattle's current rate. Seattle's minimum wage will rise to $22.14 on Jan. 1, 2027, potentially surpassing Tukwila unless the city increases its own rate again.
