β’ Tacoma City Council to Join Regional Effort to Reduce Homelessness (mynorthwest.com) β University Place leaders are about to be briefed on a new countywide homelessness strategy, the Unified Regional Approach, which Tacoma will soon vote to join. With most shelter beds currently in Tacoma and nearly 3,000 people counted homeless countywide, this plan could shape how services and responsibilities are shared among cities like University Place in the coming years.

β’ Tacoma's SoundView blanks Alabama in Little League World Series opener (thenewstribune.com) β Young players from SoundView Little League, which serves University Place families, just opened the Little League World Series with a 2-0 shutout over Alabama in Williamsport. Strong pitching and a late-game hit pushed the Northwest champs into Friday's winner's bracket game, giving local kids and parents another national-stage matchup to watch on ESPN.
