Denise was born in Tacoma, Washington to J. LaVonne and Theodore O. Johnson on May 1, 1950 and passed away November 16, 2012 at the age of 62.
She graduated from Curtis High School in 1968 and from Pacific Lutheran University in 1972 with a degree in education and music endorsement. She also did her 5th year education at P.L.U. She taught students K-12, special education, and community college. Most of all, she enjoyed teaching vocal and piano music which she taught in schools and privately. Denise was very active in music circles and had the outstanding voice of a soprano angel. For many years she was a popular performer in the area as well as in other states, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at the University Place Presbyterian Church, 8101 27th St West, University Place, Washington.
