Body In Car That Submerged Near Narrows Marina ID'd As Peninsula High Graduate
The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office said Michaela Baker drowned.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the body recovered from Day Island on Monday morning as a graduate, Michaela Baker of Tacoma.
Baker's body was pulled from a car underwater off the Narrows Marina, said Tacoma Police Department spokesman Mark Fulghum. Officials said several people fishing found the car around 6:30 a.m. and notified police.
Authorities said she drowned, though the manner of death is still under investigation. Her family has been notified.

Determining the manner of death could take weeks or even months.
"They can't rule anything out," Fulghum said.

Peninsula High School confirmed that Baker graduated from the school in 2007. One of her artworks was used as the cover of the 2008 City of Gig Harbor Annual Budget.
