Pastor's Corner: Over the Hedge

The conflicts and the roadblocks in our lives are there for reasons, Patch blogger Corbit Magby writes.

In the wee hours of the morning we sometimes wonder how we ever got in the mess we are in. How come the money is short this month? How do I make my wife understand I really love her? Will the car make it another season? Should I change jobs or just keep working at this one?

Sometimes the situation seems to have no answer. It feels like we are in a fenced in area with a large hedge around it, and we have no room for maneuver or place to go. Maybe this is God’s way of hedging you into a place where you can listen to Him. Maybe He wants you to spend less, and save more. He is using these difficulties to get you to think like He does. Maybe He wants you to love more with actions, and stop talking about it. Actions do speak louder than words. Maybe He wants you to trust Him with the car, and see what He might do. Maybe He wants to know if you really are working to your potential, or if you are in a bad spot.

The conflicts and the road blocks in our lives are there for reasons. More often than not, they are to keep us from going way out of bounds, and getting into some serious trouble. Find your spouse or a good friend. Get some coffee. Talk through the trials you are currently experiencing. Can you discern what God may be trying to communicate? May the truth be revealed so you can relax and enjoy the journey. Don’t try to go over or around God’s hedge. The stickers are like blackberries.
