BREAKING NEWS: Amanda Knox Freed

University of Washington student has been behind bars in Italy for nearly four years.

An Italian court acquitted Amanda Knox today in the 2007 murder of her  roommate Meredith Kercher.

The appeals court threw out the murder conviction and ordered her release.

The jury as overturned the murder conviction but upheld the conviction on the defamation charges after she accused club owner Patrick Lumumba of killing Kercher, a British college student, in Perugia.

The jury has also overturned the murder conviction of Knox's former boyfriend, Raffaelle Sollecito.
