The Vikings lineman receives a prestigious award from a local sports commission, and kicks a little video game butt in the process. He also prepares to play in an All-Star football game.

Happy Holidays everyone!

I want to talk about what's been going on in my life lately.

Last Thursday, I was awarded with Football Player of the Year by the Tacoma Athletic Commission. This was pretty cool because I went there with the knowledge that I was being awarded the Football Player of the Month, but I was selected as Football Player of the Year also. I received a plaque with my name along with my grade point average. I even gave a little speech in front of a couple hundred people. After hearing from various people that the winner has to give a speech, I semi-prepared for one before the ceremony, just in case I won.

Fortunately, when I got to the mic, I wasn't nervous, so I felt like I gave a good speech. After the ceremony, my friend Will, who was there for cross-country, came over and I proceeded to smash him in the video game NCAA Football. He wasn't ready for my skills.

After not going to school Friday, I went up to Seattle with my girlfriend, Katelyn, and her parents. We went shopping all day, which was really fun. I got to experience Seattle during Christmas time, which I have never witnessed before. It was tight seeing all the cool decorations on a lot of the buildings.

On Saturday I had my first practice for my All- Star game, the Tanoa Bowl. I was selected to this team after our Auburn playoff game. This game is on Jan. 1, and it features some of the best talent from Washington against some of the best talent from Alaska. The practice went really good and it was nice playing football again.

Sunday and Monday consisted of a lot of sleep and basketball. I'm really going to enjoy this break as it is much needed! I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
