Curtis Falls To Roosevelt in Third-Place Divisional Game at San Diego Tournament

The Vikings finished 2-2 in this year's Holiday Classic, which was an improvement from last year, when it returned home to eventually advance to the state championship game.

SAN DIEGO-The Curtis boys basketball team improved on its performance at last year's Holiday Classic tournament, but it was denied of a third-place divisional finish at this year's classic Friday night.

The Vikings lost to another Northwest team, Seattle's Roosevelt High, in the consolation game of the tournament's American Division, 58-55 in the consolation game.

Curtis won its first two games of the elite San Diego-area tournament before losing in the semifinals and falling to Rooseelt.

Despite falling short of placing in this year's competition, Curtis did improve on its 1-3 showing from last year, when they returned to the Northwest to eventually make it to the state championshiop game.

UPDATE, Dec. 29: 

SAN DIEGO-The Curtis boys basketball team fell to La Costa Canyon, 68-55, in the semifinals of the American Division of the Holiday Classic high school basketball tournament Thursday night in San Diego.

The Vikings, who played Thursday's game in the Mavericks' back yard, will play an opponent that's not too foreign to the University Place team, as it will face Seattle's Roosevelt High for the third-place divisional game.

SAN DIEGO-The Curtis boys basketball team is off to a strong start in its first two games of the elite Holiday Classic high school basketball tournament in San Diego.

The Vikings started the tournament with a pair of quality wins over California schools In the tournament's American Division - a 64-60 victory over Army-Navy on Tuesday and a 60-56 victory over Aliso Niguel on Wednesday.

But the team gets its toughest challenge of the tournament tonight when it faces La Costa Canyon on its home court. Tipoff is scheduled shortly after 8:30 p.m., tonight.
