Information Session (Indoor Skate Park & Education Center)

A team of young professionals and college students to start Alchemy Indoor Skate Park & Education Center, a non-profit organization in Tacoma.  Alchemy is still in the start-up phase and filed for 501-C3 status this summer. To inform the community about our goals and vision, we are hosting an Information Session at the REACH Center (714 S. 27th Street) on Tuesday, November 5th from 6 – 8pm.  Refreshment will be provided by Anthem Coffee.

The skate park, not yet built, will be a place where students of all ages can skate year round despite our 200+ days of rain per year.  The facility will also serve as an education center for tutoring and developing the skills of marginalized youth.  Our mission is to foster community by providing at-risk skate youth a welcoming environment which empowers them to develop their passions, education, and marketable skills while our vision is a future  in which skateboarders will be recognized not only as positive contributors but also an integral part of the Tacoma community.  The staff, currently volunteers in their teens, 20s and 30s, are dedicated to improving the relationship between skateboarders and the greater community and determined to better the 56% high school dropout rate of skateboarders.

We would love to have you attend and give feedback on our programming, marketing, outreach and overall organization.
