League of Women Voters of Tacoma-Pierce County February Unit Meetings
How is the State Legislature handling the task of funding K-12 education?

In the “McCleary Decision” the Washington State Supreme Court directed, under threat of unnamed sanctions, that the legislators pass a budget that fully funds K-12 education, that is, send school districts enough money to meet the responsibilities given them by state law.
Other state budget items for social services, including mental health care, early learning expansion, and higher education have been cut over the past several years. Are more cuts coming?
Attend one of the four LWV Tacoma-Pierce County Unit meetings, held February 12, 13, and 14, to learn about the legislative debate over where money can be found and how will it be distributed.
