Â
THIS CAMPAIGN:
What is the primary reason you are running for this office? Â
I am passionate about public education, which more than any other institution in our democracy has the power to transform lives and provide our youth tremendous opportunity.Â
Â
What will be your top three priorities if you get elected and why?
I will work to build upon the high quality of education in University Place by making policy-based decisions that: (1) put kids and the classroom first; (2) promote high academic standards, the professional development of our dedicated educators and staff, and the district’s accountability to the public; and (3) wisely manage our district’s resources.Â
Â
What sets you apart from the other candidates and/or previous office holders?
I am the granddaughter of four immigrants who quickly realized the value of education in this country. I am also a public school graduate who, as early as second grade, had the chance to begin a lifelong study of languages and other cultures in an excellent public school system. Like members of the University Place community, I expect excellence in our schools. I will work hard to meet the challenge of providing our student citizens an outstanding public education. Â
Â
How much money do you expect your campaign to spend on this election?
I anticipate no campaign expenses.
