Narrows Plaza Bowl Celebrating University Place's Birthday Its Own Way

University Place might have enjoyed its earlier this month, but that doesn't mean the party's over.
In fact, is offering two specials related to the city's Sweet 16 later this month, and they both benefit parks and recreation.
First, the 40-lane bowling center — which has added improvements and offerings such as a new scoring system, online reservations and new lanes since 2006 — will offer a special rate for University Place residents from noon to 10 p.m., Aug. 31.

Locals will be able to play a game for only 16 cents, a price that's almost unthinkable these days.
Shoes aren't included in the deal, but that might not be too big a deterrent given the game price. Also, all proceeds from the games will benefit and the .

But the bowling center says isn't excluding non-UP bowlers from the party.
From Aug. 28-29, non-UP residents will get to bowl for only 50 cents a game. And if visitors want, they can designate the proceeds to their hometown's youth or senior programs. Any undesignated money will benefit University Place.
This is not the first time Narrows Plaza has dedicated money to community programs, as it regularly gives an entire day's proceeds to programs such as parks and rec. Manager Lee Greenfield has also presented checks to the University Place City Council.
So if the urge to party is still biting at you, head down to Narrows Plaza later this month.
