Poor Weather Possible Cause of Alaska Plane Crash
Local pilot who was killed was leading a group of 19 planes from Fairbanks to Homer.
Bad weather in an Alaska Range mountain pass may have contributed to the crash of a twin-engine plane last week that killed a Steilacoom man.
The Associated Press is reporting that a National Transportation Safety Board preliminary report indicates other airplanes turned back from Windy Pass as weather deteriorated.
The crash in Broad Pass near Cantwell killed 61-year-old Dale Hemman of Steilacoom, who was piloting the plane, and two South Carolina passengers.
