READERS' CHOICE: Cheers West, Ale House Win Split St. Patrick's Day Poll

When it comes to getting into the festive spirit on University Place Patch users are passionate and just can't seem to make up their minds.

When I first posted the poll on the best place to unleash the Irish in you this week, users made and the clear front runners.

Throughout the week, it went back and forth. Fans cast their votes, commented on the story and hit up our Facebook page.

By 9 a.m., Friday, 385 votes had been cast, with more than 60 percent in favor of Cheers West. However, a late surge of voters who liked Ale House hit the poll, and by Friday evening, more than 700 votes were cast, with more than 60 percent now going for Ale House.

So, I've decided to make a St. Patrick's Day exception to the Readers' Choice contest and crown both watering holes the title of Patch's best place to find the Luck o' the Irish in University Place. It's hard to ignore supporters of either fine establishment, so I'm instead going to give them somewhat of an Irish blessing by crowning them both.

After all, after a few pints and some drinkining songs today, you might forget which one voted for anyway.

Congrats to both Cheers West and Ale House, and Patch wishes you a Happy St. Patrick's Day.
