Anyone can come and watch this exciting new UP for Art event on Friday, Dec. 9, at the University Place Civic Building/Market Square. Competitors must hurry to sign up as there is limited registration and entries are due by Nov. 16.
Anyone can enter the caroling competition regardless of the level of singing talent they possess; all that is asked is to bring your seasonal cheer. Costumes will liven up the holidays and are more than welcome for this festive event. Contestants may enter the competition in the large group category, with ten or more carolers, or can enter as a smaller group. Young singers may compete in the student category. Each group will be given eight minutes for judging to sing two holiday or seasonal songs. Prizes will be awarded to each category. The holidays can be tough on some families financially so UP for Art is asking for five items of nonperishable food from each contestant. Audience members are also encouraged to donate to the Families Unlimited Network and the University Place Food Bank to make the season hopeful and joyous for others. Both of these nonprofit organizations work to support local families in times of need and the holiday times are especially busy for them so every contribution made will go towards helping a local family have a happier holiday season.
All contestants need to remember to register by November 16th and to bring their nonperishable food items before they compete. Come be a part of spreading seasonal cheer this winter and have a very quacky holiday.
