Self-Defense Class Coming to University Place

Pierce County Sheriff Deputy Dan Hacker will lead the Feb. 9 class at the Environmental Services Building in University Place.

The Pierce County Sheriff's Department invites residents to attend a free discussion and hands-on training session on personal safety that Deputy Dan Hacker will lead.

The course is intended to help increase awareness, give attendees practical skills and the risk of becominga victim.

"It is better to havea plan and not need it, than to need a plan and not have it," according to a flyer for the event.

The free event is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Feb. 9 at the Environmental Services Building at Chambers Creek Properties, 9850 64th St. W.
